New York Excelsior

“The name Excelsior means “ever upward” in Latin, and is inspired by the everyday heroism of New York.  It’s this spirit of optimism, drive, and ambition that the team hopes will propel them to victory in the Overwatch League.”

New York Excelsior represent NYC in The Overwatch League. The franchise is owned by Jeff Wilpon, COO of the New York Mets baseball team.

Excelsior have an all-Korean roster of players, many of whom starred for their country during the 2017 Overwatch World Cup. They play in predominantly dark blue kits.

DPS – Libero

Hye-Sung “Libero” Kim is a DPS player for New York Excelsior. Libero is a highly flexible player who joined Excelsior from Meta Athena. He’s a highly flexible player who can run Pharah, Genji, Hanzo and Sombra to a high standard.

DPS – Pine 

Do-Hyeon “Pine” Kim is a South-Korean DPS player for New York Excelsior. Pine is a hitscan specialist who plays McCree, Soldier 76 and Widowmaker. He joined The Overwatch League from LW Blue.

Jong-Yeol “Saebyeolbe” Park is a South-Korean DPS superstar. Saebyeolbe played for the South Korean World Cup team in 2017 and is one of the best Tracer players in the world.

Tank – Janus

Joong-Hwa “Janus” Song is a tank player for New York Excelsior. He joined from Korean side, LW Blue where he played Winston and Reinhardt.

Tank – Mano

Dong-Gyu “Mano” Kim is a South-Korean tank player who starred for his country during the 2017 Overwatch World Cup. Mano mostly plays Winston but can flex to Reinhardt.

Tae-Hong “Mek0” Kim is a South Korean off-tank player for New York Excelsior. Formerly of LW Blue, he mains D.Va and Zarya.

Support – ArK

Yeon-joon “ArK” Hong is a South Korean support player for New York Excelsior. He was a part of the support duo for LW Blue and is the side’s Lucio main.

Support – JJoNak

Sung-hyeon “JJoNak” Bang is a South Korean support player. He joined The Overwatch League just a few months after joining LW Blue. He’s a flexible player who can run Zenyatta and Ana to a high standard.

INACTIVE: Fl0w3R

Yeon-oh “Fl0w3R” Hwang is a South Korean DPS superstar who has joined New York Excelsior. He is ineligible for season one of The Overwatch League but will join upon his 18th birthday on 14 May 2018.

He is one of the best DPS players in the world and showcased his incredible skills during the 2017 Overwatch World Cup. He can play Widowmaker, Pharah, Genji and just about every other DPS character in the game.
