Recap

Junkertown

We saw a rare thing in round one of this intriguing match: a game of Junkertown without a Bastion. London went up first and we saw something of a throwback in competitive Overwatch with a Reinhardt, Ana and Repaper all in play. The end result was a comfortable early push which got past Points A and B before stalling on the home stretch. London regrouped and some smart changes led to a completed map in overtime.

Philly was up next but went through a very stop/start push as they got through Point A and B but had little time on the home stretch. Hope came when they approached the final point in overtime but London came back in with an ultimate-heavy push to secure the win.

Horizon Lunar Colony

London Spitfire went for a quadruple tank push similar to what we saw from Dallas Fuel yesterday but Philly truly stood up to the test. Fusion got some picks before stalling out the rest of the London team. They looked set to for a full hold but Spitfire hit back and grabbed Point A in overtime.

They eventually grabbed B with a minute remaining which left Philly with a challenging task. They failed miserably with constant picks on Carpe stopping their attacks before they could even start. Philly didn’t touch the point until their final push but by that point, London had built up enough ultimates to easily win the team fight.

Ilios

Matches have rarely been as one-sided in the opening week of Overwatch League as this one was. Shadowburn went onto the Pharah for Well but London just won the battle on the ground instead. Any damage was effectively absorbed by Fury as they took the round with ease.

If Well was hard for Philly, Ruins was impossible. Birdring dominated on Widowmaker as Fusion saw something of a repeat of their push on Horizon Lunar Colony with attacks ending before they start as London took the map and the match.

Numbani

With the match already settled, London just rolled on their attack round. Some great work from the DPS players led to a completed map with over three minutes in the bank.

London’s domination continued onto defence as they completely shut out their clearly flustered opponents to take the 4-0.

MVP – Fury. This was a tricky decision. Birdring and Profit were obviously incredible but Fury’s performance on D.Va deserves more praise. The amount of damage he blocked was remarkable and he picked up just as many eliminations as his DPS teammates on that final round in Numbani.
